Battlefield Stats to Transfer to Xbox One and PS4

EA and DICE have announced plans to allow gamers to transfer their Battlefield 4 data from a current-gen console to a next-gen console when they upgrade.

EA and DICE, the developers of the popular Battlefield line of first-person shooters, has announced that gamers will be able to transfer current-gen player stats, gear unlocks, and accumulated rank when they choose to switch from a current-gen console to a next-gen console.

Why this is important

One of the main reasons that game developers are taking this path is because some gamers (like myself) are going to have to wait to join the next-gen crowd.  DICE will accomplish this by having players sign in with their account from console-to-console, and all their information will transfer over to the new console.  This means that current-gen gamers will still be able to play Battlefield 4 when the game is released, and then when they upgrade to a next-gen console all their hard work will be waiting for them.

From my own experience, it is highly doubtful I will have an Xbox One or PS4 when Battlefield 4 is released, so why would I want to play an Xbox 360 version and have to start over completely when I upgrade?  This process is also being used by Activision for their upcoming release, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and it is good news that game developers are thinking about people who will have to stick with current-gen consoles for a while.

Premium memberships

DICE has also confirmed that anyone who purchases a Premium membership on a current-gen console can also transfer that membership over to the next-gen console.  Which is good news for those that like to pay once for all the DLC that will be released for a game.

More information will be released next week for Battlefield 4 at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.  So stay tuned for more information if you are a Battlefield fan like myself.
