There’s an exciting new development in the story of Seth, the diehard Fallout fan who tried to pay for his preorder of Fallout 4 with 2,240 bottlecaps

The ‘payment’ arrived at its destination…

…and Seth received an email from Bethesda’s community manager, Matt Grandstaff.

Seth posted an update on imgur, sharing some of Matt’s email:

He told me since I was the first person to do this, I would be receiving a copy of the game this November, and that he would be running my caps over to deposit them at the People’s Bank of Point Lookout.

It would seem that in addition to Bethesda taking advantage of this unique story for the publicity, they also seem tickled by Seth’s sense of humor.

It certainly is impressive, hands down.  Continuously hoarding bottlecaps for 7.5 years, accumulating over 2,000, is just a whole new level of devotion to a game franchise.

It all paid off in the end. Congratulations Seth!
