People have been wondering what Bethesda is up to with the teasers they have been giving us of ‘Project Zwei’. Some of us initially hoped it was a new Fallout game, but that theory was quashed by Bethesda fairly early. The idea of a new IP has had people speculating, but that speculation is now over. The company has announced, formally, the upcoming game The Evil Within.
The game is going to be a survival horror title and the team creating it is being headed by none other than Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil. The announcement has come with a fantastic live-action trailer, at the top of the page, along with a logo to plaster around the internet in the coming days and weeks.
Shinji Mikami stated his hopes to craft the perfect blend of action and horror, something the gaming industry as a whole has struggled with. Bethesda’s success would be a huge step for the industry and might set a precedent for other companies to follow. It has to be possible to make a game scary in a way other than the helplessness games like Amnesia: The Dark Descent enforce. I look forward to seeing if The Evil Within accomplishes this.
