With the news that Bioware’s next Mass Effect game isn’t going to be a Mass Effect game (yeah, we know, it’s confusing), we can officially say goodbye to Commander Shepard this coming March.
Bioware is releasing two DLCs for Mass Effect 3 in the next two weeks, starting with Reckoning on February 26 and concluding with Citadel on March 5.
Reckoning is going to be a solely multiplayer expansion. The highlights from Reckoning are a new team of allies for Shepard, which are:
- Geth Juggernaut
- Female Turian Raptor
- Talon Mercenary
- Alliance Infiltration Unit
- And more!
Female Turians? Geth juggernauts? Be still my heart. The best thing about Reckoning, though, is the introduction of a new weapon: “Smash your enemies with the Biotic Hammer as you lay waste to the battlefield as the Krogan Warlord.” I really hate to make creative comparisons, but…
I’m just saying, I’m totally, totally ready.
Citadel, which will be released on the 5th of March, is described as being “an emotional ride; one final, sentimental journey with Commander Shepard and their squad.”
When a sinister conspiracy targets Commander Shepard, you and your team must uncover the truth, through battles and intrigue that range from the glamour of the Citadel’s Wards to the top-secret Council Archives. Uncover the truth and fight alongside your squad – as well as the cast from the original Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, including Urdnot Wrex!
When the adventure is over, reconnect with your favorite characters from the Mass Effect Trilogy, try your luck at the Citadel’s Silver Coast Casino, blow off steam in the Armax Combat Arena, or explore and furnish Shepard’s own living quarters on the Citadel. With unique content and cinematics featuring your friends and romance interests in the Mass Effect trilogy, Mass Effect 3: Citadel offers one final chance to see the characters you have known for years and rekindle romances.
It seems like Bioware is still trying to assuage the masses disappointed with Mass Effect 3’s ending. Even though I, personally, was satisfied with the conclusion to this epic galaxy-saving tale, you’ll see no complaints from me. Any opportunity to revisit the Normandy is a joyous one. I just wish it wasn’t the last.
Mass Effect 3: Reckoning launches at no additional cost worldwide on February 26th on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 (February 27th on PlayStation 3 in Europe). Mass Effect 3: Citadel will release worldwide on March 5th on Xbox 360, PC and PS3 (on March 6th on PS3 in Europe) with a price point of $14.99, 1200MS points or 1200 BW points.
