Last year, Japanese developer Happinet introduced a follow-up title to the 90s strategy-RPG Brigandine, titled Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia. We haven’t heard much about it since, but today, Happinet announced Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia will launch June 25 worldwide on Nintendo Switch.
The game takes place on the continent of Runersia, which shouldn’t be too surprising, and it’s a continent embroiled in nearly endless war — which also shouldn’t be too surprising, since this is an SRPG after all. You’ll choose one of the continent’s six major nations to control and wage a war of all-out conquest.
These nations are divided into types based on their specific Brigandines: Justice, Glory, Freedom, Sanctity, Ego, and then one without a Brigandine. The Rune Knights of each nation wield special power from runes that let them use magic and summon and control monsters. You can get a glimpse of gameplay in the Brigandine release date trailer at the top of this article.
Like the classic board game Risk, your end-goal is expanding your influence across the entire continent, using 40 different base locations as major strongholds along the way.
To accomplish this, commanders have over 100 unique types of Rune Knight to uncover and can also recruit 50 different monster types to their war machine, including fairies, goblins, and dragons.
Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch and launches both digitally and, thanks to a partnership with Limited Run Games, physically on the same date.
We love us some SRPG goodness, so we’ll be keeping an eager eye on this one leading up to June 25. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia news as it develops.
