Yes this is for real! Activison and Treyarch announced plans to release modding and mapping tools for the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 PC version. Treyarch released a blog post detailing how they were proud to create games for such a passionate community of gamers. They heard a vocal part of the COD community requesting these tools and are are happy to fulfill the request.
The PC version of the Black Ops 3 will have access to tools to mod and build levels in the game. Treayarch plans to release the tools through a closed Alpha test by March next year. The tools come with dedicated unranked servers for developers to release their content. Players can find created content through a dedicated server browser. There is no word currently on how players can receive access to the closed Alpha.
The developers gave notice that plans could still change, as the project is still in its early stages. They apologized in advance in case some of the mentioned features are not in the final version of the game. If all goes well, an open beta test of the new tools is also planned.
Yesterday a live-action trailer narrated by Friday Night Lights actor Michael B. Jordan was released. The trailer shows Kevin as he dominates in Black Ops gameplay. Cara Delevingne and Marshawn Lynch also make appearances. This release is ahead of the game’s release this Friday, November the 6th.
