This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

There are only a few weeks left until the latest Call of Duty deploys on PC and current- and next-gen systems. There’s been an alpha, and there have been betas, and we know a whole lot about the game already, from maps to loadouts and everything in between. But we still haven’t gotten the bombastic launch trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War we’ve been expecting.

So it’s about time, right?

Publisher Activision thought so too and has finally released the Cold War launch trailer on YouTube. You can see it, set against the soundscape of New Order’s Blue Monday 88, in its explosive glory below.

It’s more Call of Duty, that’s for sure, a fact bound to delight long-time fans of the series. Set during the Cold War, this year’s entry in the FPS franchise may be inspired by true events and feature real-world figures such as Ronald Reagan, but the expected liberties will most likely mean some unexpected (and fictitious) consequences in the game’s campaign.

The launch trailer focuses on that mode completely, but Black Ops Cold War will, of course, prominently feature an array of multiplayer modes, including the Battlefield-inspired Combined Arms. Activision has also confirmed that Cold War will connect with the battle royale Warzone

On top of all of that, Zombies will make a return this year. However, the two-player Onslaught mode will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for almost a year, until November 1, 2021.

For those who still haven’t pre ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there are several options available, of course, as well as several upgrade paths based on what next-gen system, if any, they plan to buy. We’ve outlined everything you need to know in our pre order guide here
