It has become quite a tradition to get a patch for the very first day of a game. Being this to deliver some tweaks to the game, to fix some issues they encountered after the discs were delivered to retailers or…anything developers might need.
This is the case for Activision‘s latest entry on the Call of Duty franchise with Call of Duty: Ghosts, which will be getting a day one patch in order to bring its PS4 single player campaign up to 1080p from 720p. As reported to Polygon by an Activision representative:
“The whole PS4 game runs in 1080p and said the 720p campaign on PS4 is a mistake caused by a “configuration error” in the retail disc version.
This has been addressed with a day-one software update. People will be able to download the day-one update when PlayStation 4 launches in their territory and play at native 1080p.”
This comes after Eurogamer reported that single player campaign of the game, from retail discs, was being delivered at 720p instead of the 1080p, after Mark Rubin, Infinity Ward’s executive producer, said that the game was going to run at native 1080p in the PlayStation 4 and 1080p upscaled from 720p on the Xbox One.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is now available for current-gen consoles, and will be a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
