Remember back in 2008 when Call of Duty fans thought they would fight in the horrific battlefields of World War 2 for the last time? Well, they can put those memories to rest, because now the eight year old Call of Duty: World at War is now available for Xbox One via backwards compatibility. It was the only game in the Black Ops storyline that is set in WW2, and debatably has the goriest and bloodiest combat, but it’s going to look even bloodier on Xbox One.
Aside from the improved graphics, the game itself won’t change. It’ll have the same campaign, co-op mode, multiplayer, and zombies mode. This was all confirmed yesterday by Microsoft’s Larry Hryb via Twitter.

What’s even more exciting is that World at War is not the only Call of Duty title to make the cut for Xbox One. The full list includes Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Hryb continued to surprise fans when he further confirmed that all these now backward compatible titles can be bought directly from Xbox One or Xbox.com.
This is great news for nostalgic CoD fans. Whether they want to replay the story mode or just go back to multiplayer for memories sake, fans can enjoy their old favorite shooters on their new consoles.
