Did you know that Blizzard once tried to create a point-and-click adventure game based on their popular Warcraft series? If not, now you do. And if your curiosity has been piqued, you might be pleased to know that it’s suddenly become available to play.
Titled Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans, the game was cancelled back in 1998. However, it looks like it was pretty close to completion, as the build that’s now available to download is a full pre-release version of the game, complete with in-game cinematics and voice acting.
Somehow, somebody based in Russia acquired the game file and posted a download link in a Warcraft forum called Scrolls of Lore a couple of days ago (which is currently unavailable, unsurprisingly).
In 2008, ten years after the initial cancellation, Blizzard spoke about the game, saying:
“The decision centred around the level of value that we want to give our customers. In essence, it was a case of stepping up and really proving to ourselves and gamers that we will not sell out on the quality of our games.”
You should be able to track down the download link elsewhere online, but if you want to play the game, you’ll have to be quick, since it’s very likely Blizzard will take it down as soon as they can.
