This weekend the Capcom Pro Tour 2016 came to an official close. After the PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, California, the world’s best Street Fighter V player was decided.
The winner of the 2016 tournament was Team Liquid’s “Nuckle Du,” who was playing for the title against Evil Geniuses’ Ricki Ortiz.
It’s important to note that both players were the only American representatives in the tournament’s Top 8, and that they were also the first American finalist in the pro tour’s history.
Du “Nunckle Du” Dang’s win was credited to his ability to quickly adapt using multiple characters, Guile, R. Mika and Nash to overwhelm Ortiz. On the other hand, Ortiz proved to be dominant and a skilled opponent as well, being a premiere Chun-Li specialist.
First place earned “Nuckle Du” a prize pool of $230,000, while Ortiz earned $60,000 for second place. Dang also will have the opportunity to help design Street Fighter V DLC for 2017.
Fans of Street Fighter V can look forward to more DLC and content. Stayed tuned to GameSkinny for more news on Street Fighter V.
