Castle Crashers Remastered will be available on Xbox one on September 9th. The full game, normally $15, will be free for anyone who already owns the original version of Castle Crashers on their Xbox 360. The Behemoth has also stated on their blog that they are planning to release a Steam version, for which development will begin “later this year.”

The game will feature a better framerate, larger textures, and a new minigame called “Back Off Barbarian.

“Back off Barbarian” is a rhythm strategy game where the button you press to move will change each turn. The game will feature cooperative play in which players can draw aggro and bait the enemies around the board.

The free upgrade on Xbox One is a limited-time offer ending on September 20th. If you miss the deadline for the free version, there will still be a loyalty discount starting on the 21st that will net you the Remastered version for only $5.

No word on whether the Steam version will get the same free offer or $5 loyalty discount, but we can always keep our fingers crossed.
