With only a few months until the release of Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix decided to put out a trailer showing off more gameplay. This time however, the stars of the show were not just the main cast, but the iconic Chocobos too: basically giant yellow chickens ridden like horses.
The gameplay mainly consists of traveling around the large open areas of the game, all to the classic Chocobo theme music, which has undergone a bit of a change to fit the game. Even the Chocobo seems to be moving its head during the middle of the song as Noctis, the main character, rides it over the course of a day.
But it’s all not happy eating and riding, as the group is eventually fighting monsters once again. Of course, anyone who has played a Final Fantasy game should know that Chocobos are no slouches in combat, at least in the games where they are allowed to fight, like in Final Fantasy X-2. In this case, the Chocobo can easily kick aside a smaller monster. Naturally, the player can fight off of the Chocobo too.
Final Fantasy XV is set to release worldwide on September 30, 2016 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, developed and published by Square Enix.
