Steampunk browser-based MMO City of Steam is dropping its requirements to get into the next beta phase and opening it up to any interested participants on May 10. This comes after some hefty gameplay changes, some of which being much-requested while others being quite the opposite.
A look at the forums will give you an idea as to what to expect from City of Steam. While the general attitude as of tonight is positive, the game’s new Energy system seems to be the community wrong. Energy serves to limit the amount of activities you can do per day, specifically dungeon runs. While this can be found in-game, there is some serious worry that the Energy system will make the game pay to win.
Those of us not privy to City of Steam just yet will have to wait until May 10 to give it a try. It’s never good to judge a book by its cover, especially not a book with such dissenting opinions on the forums. We’ll see what this Unity 3D-developed browser MMO has in store soon enough.
