In the wake of the bankruptcy of THQ, well-known publisher of Spongebob Squarepants games, our spongy friend is left with a delimma. Who will step up to push these light-hearted games into little kids’, and the occasional 30 year old’s, hands from now on?
Activision, publishers of the wildly popular Call of Duty franchise, that’s who.
Nickelodeon has struck up a multi-year and multi-title deal with Activision publishing; the first title of many to come being SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton’s Robotic Revenge. Developed by the people at Behaviour Interactive (who also developed Naughty Bear), you can play as either Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy or Mr. Krabs as you fight against Plankton who’s buddied up with some evil robots to steal the secret Krabby Patty formula.
The game will be available on October 22nd for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U, DS, and 3DS.
Be sure to look out for Spongebob Krabby Duty; including a jellyfish zombie level (kidding, of course).
