It’s no news that The Last of Us has been working on new DLC, Left Behind. We have known since November of last year that it would be coming.

Naughty Dog and Playstation have confirmed the release date of Left Behind will be February 14th, and it will go for $14.99. A price definitely worth paying.

Voice actress Ashley Johnson said in an interview,

You’ll definitely see a more playful side to Ellie and get to know her a bit better [in Left Behind]. You’re going to see a lot of different sides to the character that you definitely didn’t see in The Last of Us. I’m excited for people to experience it!

For those of you who don’t know, The Last of Us: Left Behind is a prequel to the game and centers around Ellie and her best friend Riley. Playstation teases that the story will pick up “…after the two sneak out of their school for the last time, leading to a series of events that will forever change both of their lives.”

In the original campaign, Ellie mentions being bitten  while with Riley.

Riley is played by voice actress Yaani King who recently appeared on the hit TV series, “Mad Men.” Ashley Johnson said in the same interview,

…when Yaani got on board she was just so fun and so silly that it sort of brought out my own kid-like tendencies, too. It was perfect. It’s so significant to the story because Riley is her best friend — this is a really important side of Ellie that people need to see.

The Last of Us: Left Behind is supposed to bring a more ‘playful‘ feel to the game while still featuring familiar combat and a whole new environment. As long as Naughty Dog comes anywhere close in quality with this DLC, Left Behind is an exciting prospect that everyone is going to be itching to play.
