One of my favorite games this year so far is definitely Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. For the PS Vita, this game has a great story, intriguing characters, and awesome Ace Attorney-style gameplay. When I heard about a sequel, I got excited.
Now, NIS America has released an official trailer for the game, titled Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, with character reveals and a release date. Looks like Vita owners have a reason to get excited.
We will once again experience despair
The game will once again feature a group of students stuck in a game of life or death by the nefarious Monokuma. It is kill or be killed, as the only way out is to kill your fellow classmates and get away with it. NIS America gave this description:
Jabberwock Island — once a popular tourist destination, this now uninhabited island remains oddly pristine. You and your classmates at the elite Hope’s Peak Academy have been brought to this island by your super-cute teacher for a “lovey-dovey, heart-throbbing school trip.” Everyone seems to be having fun in the sun…until Monokuma returns to restart his murderous game! Trapped on this island of mutual killing, your only hope of escape rests in solving the island’s mysteries. But be warned—sometimes the truth can be its own despair…
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair will start an all new set of students, who are “Ultimates,” the best at what they do (such as the “Ultimate Gymnast” or the “Ultimate Swordswoman”). The game also introduces what seems like a female Monokuma, dubbed “Monomi.” The game seemingly keeps the grisly murder scenes, and the “battles” will take place in the court room once again, in the vein of Ace Attorney.
As I said before, I love Danganronpa.
I feel it is one of the best titles on the PS Vita so far (You can read my review here). This trailer suggests that we can expect the court room driven, murder fueled action featured in the first game. We will once again be able to play Monokuma’s sick game when Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair releases on September 2.
