Unless you’ve been living under a rock or actively avoiding all things awesome in the past few decades, then you’re familiar with the intense screaming that is the Dragon Ball franchise.
With 15 movies, 5 TV specials, and 2 Public Service Announcements, Goku and the Dragon Ball universe are deeply ingrained in many a nerd’s lifetime. And now the newest in a long line of video games finally comes to Europe and North America with Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden!
Though the game has been available to players in Japan since June, the game makes its way to the West this week. Despite featuring over 100 fighting characters and multiple story lines where you play as either the heroes or villains, the game has received an overall lackluster response since its release.
DBZ: Extreme Butoden follows in the footsteps of previous 2D fighters in the series, giving players a roster of characters and support fighters to choose from before jumping into a tournament or the main story. But aside from duel screens and the addition of newer characters from recent movies, like Beerus and SSGSS Goku, the game hasn’t done much to wow fans. DBZ: Extreme Butoden holds a 61% on Metacritic and 7 out of 10 on Nintendo Life.
