Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios announced the title and release date for the first official story DLC for Dead Island 2, which takes the “zompocalypse” to Malibu. Not only does it add an area, but it also includes more weapons and skill cards. Here’s what we know.
Dead Island 2 Haus DLC Details: New Zone, Weapons, and Cards
Haus, due on November 2, 2023, is set in a brand-new zone and puts the Slayers up against “a billionaire’s secret techno-death cult.” You’ll investigate a beachfront campground that belongs to Konstantin, the mysterious leader of the Haus organization, who apparently sees post-zombie Hell-A as the fulfillment of his prophecies.
Konstantin had the time and money to get weird even before the zombies struck. The interior of the compound starts off creepy and gets creepier, as per footage released by Dambuster. You’ll start by investigating the top two floors, then descending into the bizarre architecture that’s built into the house’s core.
As you get further in, you’ll run into a variety of simulated locations, which include a roadside diner that specializes in human flesh, a small ramshackle rural village, and a simulated wilderness at night. If you’re like me and your favorite part of DI2’s base game was when it got surreal, it looks like the Haus DLC is really leaning into the post-human craziness of Hell-A.
The Haus DLC includes a few new weapons for the Slayers, such as a scoped crossbow for silent takedowns and the Hog Roaster, a fire-spewing hand axe. You’ll also receive eight new Skill Cards.
Haus is the first of two “major story expansions” that were announced at Dead Island 2’s launch as part of its expansion pass ($29.99). The second one, SoLA Festival, set at a Burning Man-esque environmentalist rave, is scheduled for Q2 2024. Dead Island 2 is available for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through the Epic Games Store.
