Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja seem to be drawing certain skepticism upon the news of their soon-arriving Dead or Alive game being brought to PC – with no online play option.
That’s right – as Team Ninja has confirmed today, the upcoming Dead or Alive 5 Last Round game has been given a scheduled release date of February 17, 2015. In a truly questionable move, however, the game will not come equipped with online play capability for its PC version, at least for the time being.
In addition to PC, Last Round will be available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. However, there are certain benefits that come with pre-ordering the game on Steam. While the game will be priced at $39.99 upon release, Koei Tecmo is offering both a 10 percent discount on the price and additional costumewear that will come in a “supply and demand” fashion — but only if players order the game ahead of release.
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is described as an expansion of last year’s Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, where original Dead or Alive character Raidou and another fighter — unnamed to keep her a surprise — will join the roster. Two stages from previous Dead or Alive titles will also make their return in Last Round: “Crimson,” from Dead or Alive 2, and “Danger Zone” from the original Dead or Alive game.
As for the lack of online play, Tecmo stated on the game’s Steam page that “online modes for Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will be added in a patch within 3 months of release.” At the very latest, online play should be made available to players come May 2015.
