Dead Rising 3 Heading to Xbox One Exclusively

Dead Rising 3 was revealed during today’s Microsoft press conference during E3 to be an Xbox One exclusive. This will be the first open world title in the series and features a new protagonist named Nick, who is trying to survive 10 years after the events of Dead Rising 2.

Being in an open world as opposed to a large-yet-closed environment, players will have to traverse the city of Los Perdidos by jacking cars. They will also have to seek out supplies to survive, and will see significantly more vehicle usage than in the previous Dead Rising games.

As a fan of the series, I’m a little put off by the shift to what looks in the trailer to be a mostly brown color scheme instead of the colorful environments seen in the first two games. Part of the fun of the previous games was the silly weapons and clothing. We’ll have to see if Dead Rising 3 sticks to its tongue in cheek roots come more reveals from Capcom.
