It’s been a long time coming, but Kojima Productions has finally shown us more of what’s to come in Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima’s first project since separating from Konami.

Throughout its near nine minutes, the trailer finally gives us a glimpse into the world of Death Stranding and it’s not just cutscene footage.

In a world changed by an event yet unseen, humans must forge connections with one another amidst the threat presented by “BTs”. It’s best to watch the trailer itself than to read my stumbling through of how to describe it. However, let’s just say that Kojima seems not to have lost his touch. From Kojima’s Twitter:

People have built “Walls” and become accustomed to living in isolation.

“DEATH STRANDING” is a completely new type of action game, where the player’s goal is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society. All elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the theme of “Strand”, or connection.

As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to “Bridge” these divisions, and in doing so, create new bonds or “Strands” with other players around the globe.

Through your experience playing the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.

Now please enjoy the latest Death Stranding trailer.

Along with the trailer comes a release date. Death Stranding will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on November 8. Naturally, with this announcement are pre-order bonuses and different editions, so let’s jump right into that since it’s easily describable.

Those who pre-order any edition of Death Stranding will receive the following pre-order bonuses:

  • Gold “Sam” sunglasses for in-game use
  • Gold hat for in-game use
  • Gold armor plate for in-game use
  • Gold speed skeleton for in-game use
  • Chibi Ludens PSN avatar

There are also four separate editions, all but standard with their own bonuses: Standard Edition, Collector’s Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and the Special Edition.

Collector’s Edition bonuses

  • BRIDGES cargo case
  • Full-sized BB Pod
  • Custom Steelbook
  • Ludens keychain
  • Death Stranding: Timefall (Original Music from the World of Death Stranding) digital download and behind the scenes making of video
  • 10 PSN avatars
  • All of the pre-order bonuses
Digital Deluxe Edition Bonuses

  • Death Stranding: Timefall (Original Music from the World of Death Stranding) digital download and behind the scenes making of video
  • 10 PSN avatars
  • All of the pre-order bonuses
Special Edition Bonuses

  • Death Stranding: Timefall (Original Music from the World of Death Stranding) digital download and behind the scenes making of video
  • Custom Steelbook
  • In-game gold “Ludens Mask” sunglasses

The Death Stranding trailer got me more hyped than I have any business being. It’s a long time to November, but good things come to those who wait.
