Defiance, the shooter MMO from Trion Worlds, is transferring to a free-to-play system at the beginning of June. The is one-time purchase system is being dropped and the new system will be available for PC and PS3. The new model will be available June 4th on Steam, and PS3 will follow shortly after.
The free-to-play Defiance will not be available for Xbox 360 just yet. Plans are in the works, but there is not specific launch date yet.
Already bought the game? No worries! Players who have already purchased the game will get plenty of in-game goodies. Be on the lookout for cash, additional character slots, loadouts, and more.
The “Paradise Patron” service will still be available who want to subscribe. The service provides the choice to increase experience, skills, and other choice bonuses.
The second season of Defiance premieres June 19. With the free-to-play model and the show starting again, Trion is hoping to see a large influx of players.
Defiance is available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Now that the game is free-to-play, are you more likely to play it? Were you one of the original players of Defiance? Do you expect to see more people playing?
