A sequel for the game Desert Bus has been announced for virtual reality. Penn Jillette, half of the magician duo Penn and Teller, announced that himself and Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford are working on a “new Desert Bus” for virtual reality.
If you are unfamiliar with the original Desert Bus, it was a mini-game for an unreleased Sega CD game, Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors. In the mini-game, you are tasked to drive a bus from Tucson, Arizona to Las Vega, Nevada. In the game, the journey happens in real time, which takes 8 hours to complete.
The new Desert Bus will be part of a large bundle of games that will only be available for charity events. The original Desert Bus is played annually by the charity organisation Desert Bus for Hope. Last November, the organisation raised over $600,000 for playing Desert Bus for 159 hours straight.
