To seasoned Crucible veterans the Iron Banner is a call to duty every time Lord Saladin returns to the tower. Forcing players to battle one another without any level balance, the Iron Banner is a place for top-tier Destiny players to utterly destroy players of lower levels in an effort to increase their reputation and unlock items of even greater power.
Sound like fun? Iron Banner is back in the Tower during the week of 10/13 to 10/19.
Lord Saladin has really outdone himself this time. Being the first visit following the release of the Taken King, the Iron Banner has all new rules when it comes to bounties, reputation gains, and item purchases.
Bounties
Bounties are no longer simple daily challenges to complete in the Banner playlist. There are now three weekly bounties of increased difficulty. Of course, these bounties offer extremely valuable rewards and any players undergoing the Iron Banner challenge shouldn’t hesitate to grab them first.
Iron Gauntlet
The Iron Gauntlet weekly bounty asks players to, “Impress Lord Saladin with extraordinary feats in the Iron Banner.” Sounds easy enough…
- Achieve a 10-Kill Streak
- Earn 5 Double Kills
- Achieve a Top Overall Score in any Game
- Reach Iron Banner Rank 4
Iron Marathon
Iron Marathon is significantly less daunting, but will require dedication.
- Complete 13 Iron Banner Matches
- Win 7 Iron Banner Matches
Iron Versatility
“Improvisation is a powerful tool. Show me you have the ability to win – no mater the weapon.” – Lord Saladin
- 50 Primary Weapon Kills
- 25 Special Weapon Kills
- 13 Heavy Weapon Kills
Atop these three daunting tasks lies a minimum of three daily challenges as well. Iron Banner-ists really have their work cut out for them this week.
Rewards
“Prove your worth in the Iron Banner. Only then will you reap its rewards.” – Lord Saladin
Hopefully, players of the Iron Banner have been saving up their Legendary Marks, as they are the only form of payment for Event Rewards. Emblems and shaders can still be purchased with glimmer, but to buy arms and armour, the real treat of the Iron Banner, players will need to start saving up.
Lord Saladin now possesses two shiny new player emblems, each available for 1000 glimmer. Iron Pride features the skull of a buck-like creature with a wolf storming towards the player level. It is available at Iron Banner rank one. The Ironwood Tree features the classic Iron Banner emblem emblazoned on a golden backdrop. It is available at Iron Banner rank five. Both emblems are of the Legendary rarity.
With all of the bounties to complete, rewards to unlock and emblems to buy, it’s a good idea to take to the Iron Banner until October 19th. But be warned! The Iron Banner is a dangerous place for lower level players, and there will be no mercy.
