Monday night, the details for Destiny‘s latest expansion, The Taken King was leaked online. The expansion was teased when Bungie acquired the rights for the name The Taken King a few weeks back. When news got out, many players in the community had speculated that it would be another expansion similar to the Dark Below expansion… which was not received positively.

New Sub-Classes, New Enemies, and a Raid

With these new details, we learned about the release date, the contents of this expansion and the price. First let’s talk about the price, $40. Yes, this is more than the season pass had originally cost ($35) but with the amount of content, it seems to be appropriate.

According to the leaked information, the synopsis is as follows:  Oryx, father of Crota will be leading his legion of followers the Taken to exact revenge on those who have killed his son.

With that, we are introduced to a new race of enemies called the Taken. Many speculate that they may either be fallen guardians that have been resurrected with darkness, high tier versions of the Hive, or an entirely new type of enemy. Not only will there be new enemies to fight, but a brand new raid with Oryx as the boss will be added.

Along with the new raid, players will receive new story missions, new strikes, new PvP maps, and best of all, new sub-classes. Hunters will have a Gravity Bow (Void), Titans will have the Scorch Hammer (Solar) and Warlocks will have Electric Storm (Arc). Players have been yearning for new sub-classes since the first expansion and it seems their prayers have been heard and answered.

The Taken King is set for release on September 15th, 2015.

As this information has been leaked and Bungie has not commented on anything, expect to see an official reveal by Bungie during E3 next week.
