Crytek is giving PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and players a chance to try out Crysis 3‘s multiplayer before they shell out the money for a preorder and the goodies that come with it. The multiplayer open beta starts on January 29 and will last until February 12.
Two game modes will be available during the open beta. The first is Crash Site, which is pits players against each other in teams to capture and defend points around the map.
Hunter, the second mode found in the beta, sets two “hunter” players against a team of 10 (14 for CP users) CELL soldiers. Players on the CELL side who are caught by hunters are swapped to the other team and must become hunters themselves.
PC users will have to use Origin to have access to the Crysis 3 beta, while Xbox 360 users will have to have an Xbox Live Gold account to get in on it.
Crysis 3 will be released for all three platforms on February 19. Preordering will automatically upgrade you to the Hunter Edition of the game, which includes the following:
- Predator bow
- Hunter Nanosuit module
- Predator bow skin
- Three exclusive cosmetic dog tags
- An multiplayer XP boost up to level 5
