Star Wars Episode VII: Shadows of the Sith. That’s the name of the would-be game that never saw the light of day. First revealed in Rogue Leaders: The Story of LucasArts, not much information was given besides the logo. That changed a couple days ago, when Cinelinx reported new information about the game via Haden Blackman — former creative director at LucasArts.

According to Blackman, Shadows of the Sith‘s concept was actually developed in 2004, well before the actual seventh film, and even before the release of the third prequel movie. Along with this game, around two dozen other concepts were created, each with their own distinct logo.

Had Shadow of the Sith ever been released, players could have looked forward to taking control of Ben Skywalker as he confronted a new evil in the galaxy. No, not that Ben, but the Ben Skywalker of the extended universe, son of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade.

Also mentioned was the idea of using “new Force powers never-before-seen in games or movies,” though Haden went on to say that particular idea ended up becoming part of The Force Unleashed franchise in the end.

Sadly, the game was never made, and the new films and planned games have most likely ended any hope of seeing something similar in the future.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Would you have liked to play as Ben Skywalker? Leave it in the comments!

Hi! My name is Nick, and I am yet another kid trying to break into the world of gaming journalism. I am currently attending grad school and pursuing my Master's in Journalism. Want to know my favorite game? It's Mass Effect, but not the third one; we don't talk about that one. I am also an avid fan of any and all board games, and you should totally try Risk Legacy; it's like regular Risk but better.
