Diablo III requiring an always-online internet connection was one of the biggest gripes PC gamers had with the title. Those who adopt the game on the PS3 or PS4 won’t have to worry about all that: The console version will allow for single player and local co-op offline play.
Sony’s John Hight spoke with GameTrailers, revealing the console version’s four-player co-op and lack of online play. Hight says the following before being interrupted during the interview:
“You can have four people on the same screen – no split-screen, we just zoom the camera out. Or if you’re offline…”
Local play and not requiring an always-on connection sounds nice, as do the claims that the PS3/PS4 versions of Diablo III will be completely up to date with their PC counterpart. But what about PC gamers?
After Diablo III‘s’s rocky launch last year (server outages) and the subsequent mis-management of the title’s real money auction house, should PC gamers just take this news without saying a word? As Blizzard‘s success was built on the PC playerbase, it feels like a slap to the face.
