Disgaea: Hour of Darkness was North America’s first real taste of Nippon Ichi‘s unique sense of humor and number-grinding gameplay. Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories took that same gameplay and made several improvements, making it a worthy sequel. Those of you who missed out on the two games can pick them up on the PlayStation Network soon enough.
Atlus is re-releasing the first game today (January 15), while Nippon Ichi will be re-releasing its sequel on January 22. Both titles will have a price of $9.99 on the PlayStation Network.
This is by no means the only releases of these titles on modern consoles. Disgaea and Disgaea 2 were both initially released for the PlayStation 2 (the original was even released twice by Atlus due to fan demand), but have seen ports on the PSP and the Nintendo DS over the years. These digital-only re-releases for the PSN are direct ports of the original version of the game and do not have any of the additional content found in other releases.
