DOOM is launching an open beta beginning April 15th. This beta session for the multiplayer arena-style FPS will take place from the April 15-17th, and will help give you an edge by getting you familiar with this cutthroat multiplayer arena weeks before the actual release, which is set for May 13th. It is available to all players, and is compatible with PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam.
The beta will consist of two maps, Heatwave and Infernal, and two playing modes, 6v6 Team Deathmatch and Warpath. There will also be one playable demon character, the Revenant, and seven weapon choices — rocket launcher, plasma rifle, super shotgun, vortex rifle, static rifle, heavy assault rifle, and lightning gun. Other materials will include a Gauss Cannon power weapon, frag grenades, personal teleporter, and siphon grenades. On top of all that, there will be hack modules, taunts, and armor sets never before used or even seen by players.
The pre-load for the beta was made available starting yesterday. You can learn more about how to access the beta, pre-ordering, recommended system specs, and other DOOM news here.
