To celebrate the upcoming launch of Dragon Age: Inquisition, the first game in the Dragon Age series, Dragon Age: Origins is available for free as a On The House deal until 15th October 2014.
With PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 Metacritic scores of 91, 87, and 86 respectively it was one of the best role playing games of the year 2009 and has won more than 50 awards including more than 30 “Game of the Year” awards. Among the awards received were the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences “Role-Playing/Massively Multiplayer Game of the Year 2009” and Spike Video Game Awards’ Best PC Game of 2009 .
What I think about this game
In my opinion, this game far outclasses the sequel Dragon Age 2 and deserves a spot in any gamer’s collection. Every character has his/her own prologue story before you reach the main story and there is plenty of choice throughout the game on which quests to undertake first or which towns to visit. The game just feels right when it comes to difficulty and most of the time a hard fight can be handled just by choosing a different strategy.
The cast of party members in this game also help to immerse the player in the game world, especially characters like Morrigan whose cryptic dialogue confused me at the start but I got the hang of it after a while (her point of view on the world is unique).
Dragon Age: Origins is an excellent fantasy RPG and well worth the experience of playing it. It’s tale of violence, betrayal, flimsy alliances and romance will absorb players for many long gameplay sessions. Check it out and grab it now! (it’s free so there really is nothing to lose here)
