Ubisoft’s next big title, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, comes out for current generation consoles on October 29th–however some retailers have been shipping the game early.
Lead Game Designer, Tim Browne said that:
“The players currently playing haven’t done anything wrong. Retailers have sent out copies early and we don’t believe in punishing innocent…”
Browne believes that the early access is due to retailer error and that the players should not be punished.
The designer also confirmed that the Black Flag multiplayer servers are indeed up and running but that the “Ladders” will be reset in the interest of game balance. However, levels earned by players will not be.
“We won’t reset gained levels as that is unfair on people who legitimately bought the game. Those in the wrong are the retailers.”
This is a great attitude from Ubisoft and I think a good mistake by retailers because the multiplayer servers can get a warm up before the no doubt full load at launch.
In North America Black Flag is due out November 15th for PS4, 19th for PC and the 22nd for Xbox One.
Unfortunately for European gamers, who will have to wait until November 22nd for the PC, Wii U and Xbox One releases and the 29th for PS4.
