You might’ve been more excited about Gamescon for the bigger announcements and promotions, such as EA and Sims 3, but there are indie announcements for those of us who don’t really care about Call of Duty, no matter the amount of ghosts it has.
Edmund McMillen, part of the team that created Super Meat Boy and the Binding of Isaac shared a teaser trailer and vision for the newest version of Isaac called the Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
Rebirth is not a straight retread of the original, incredibly popular and dark game. Instead, it is a complete remake, adding several new features and a new visual style.
Fans of the original style might be slightly disappointed by Nicalis’ (the company in charge of remaking Isaac) decision to give the game an optional 16-bit makeover. But the remake promises to bring the same oddly personal, slightly disturbing, twisted version of Isaac’s story that kept fans interest in the first place.
The remake will also include co-operative play, new characters and bosses — effectively a whole new games worth of content. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth will be available on the Playstation 4, PS Vita, and Steam in 2014, and Sony has announced that for Playstation Plus, the upgrade to Rebirth will be free.
