Today marks the 30-year anniversary of the very first Elder Scrolls game. The Elder Scrolls: Arena released in 1994, kicking off one of the most popular RPG franchises to date. Celebrating the occasion, Bethesda gave us an update on the state of Elder Scrolls 6.
Bethesda posted on its X account all of the franchise games that have launched since 1994. As part of the festivities, head to the official Elder Scrolls website to download Elder Scrolls: Arena and Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall. Xbox has also added Morrowind and Oblivion to the catalog of backward-compatible games.
The highlight is the small tidbit snuck into the tweeted graphic about Elder Scrolls 6. The second to last paragraph confirms the team is working on the title. No other details are mentioned, but mentioning the developers returning to Tamriel in early builds could mean the game is closer to launch than originally thought.
No hints on location or storyline were given. No additional name, following the tradition of predecessors, was included either. All we can say with confidence is the team is working hard to bring us what we all crave.
It’s been 13 years since the last main game, Skyrim, launched. While Elder Scrolls Online has filled a spot for some players, many fans are hollering for the next single-player title. Now that Starfield has released, the focus is expected to shift to Elder Scrolls.
Whether you’ve been a fan for 30 years or 30 days, the Elder Scrolls anniversary has given us all something to look forward to. The Elder Scrolls 6 has big shoes to fill trying to outclass Skyrim, but a new story is what we’re all waiting for.
