The next addition to the Etrian Odyssey series is up for pre-order – and with some pretty cool pre-order bonuses.
It took nearly a year for Atlus USA to announce that it was localizing the new game in the Etrian Odyssey Untold series, and now that it’s on pre-order, they’ve announced what bonuses players can expect.
When players preorder the new game, Etrian Odyssey Untold 2: The Fafnir Knight, they’ll get the game itself, a collectible box, the official staff art book with sketches/designs/notes, and a CD with rough recordings of the soundtrack.
The bonuses are similiar to what players got when they pre-ordered the predecessor to The Fafnir Knight and the first game in the series, Etrain Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. The Millennium Girl pre-orders also came with a design book with sketches/designs/notes and a soundtrack with 7 rough recordings of the game’s soundtrack.
The Untold series, which started in 2013, was intended to remake the original Etrian Odyssey (2007) games using the updated and superior system of Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan, with the addition of a story mode that featured pre-made characters as the players’ party. The new remakes were created in hopes of gaining new players and fans for the series.
The Fafnir Knight is the remake of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard, first released in 2008. It’s complete with its own Story Mode that expands on the game’s original plot.
The Fafnir Knight will have two different play modes: Story and Classic. The Story mode will have a more detailed plot, fixed party, voice-acted dialogue, and animated cutscenes. Classic will be for those who want to create their own party and follow the original game plot, just with the updated system. The game is to be released this summer for $49.99.
