If you’ve ever wanted to know what Sandra Bullock in Gravity felt like, or if you’d prefer safely orbiting the planet instead, virtual reality has the solution for you.
Overview 1 is the world’s first virtual reality satellite. It will transmit a high-definition live feed of the Earth to virtual reality headsets. Created by SpaceVR, the orbit will be available to stream within a year.
“We’re going to offer virtual reality content, live to people from space,” SpaceVR founder and CEO Ryan Holmes told The Huffington Post. “Anyone will have the opportunity to sit down and put on any VR headset and be immediately immersed in the majestic beauty of space.”
The satellite utilizes two 4k sensors that, when combined with wide field lenses, will immerse the viewer in seeing space like astronauts.
“Our goal is to give everyone the opportunity to experience the truly infinite boundless universe that we live in…. through virtual reality,” the official site says.
Viewers can preorder the service on the official site now for $35.
