Developer The Chinese Room, the studio behind Dear Esther and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, are known for their story-driven games. Their upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive title, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, looks to follow the same formula.
The Chinese Room has announced they have the very first PS4 build of the game up and running. Thanks to a Tweet from the official account, we’ve learned they have loaded the game onto a devkit and it was up and running. The Chinese Room said:
Fixed the DevKit bugging out yesterday which means today is the day – installing the first PS4 build of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture!
And:
PS4 build is up and running! Feeling of immense relief… Quite a major threshold to have passed…
The devs were also asked about porting their previous games — Dear Esther and A Machine for Pigs — to the PlayStation 4. TheChineseRoom replied saying they are not actively working on it, but they wouldn’t rule it out.
Maybe, not working on it at the moment, but never say never….
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture follows the tale of six unique characters as they explore a their hometown during the apocalypse. The title promises more interaction than games like Dear Esther, while still focusing on the narrative.
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture will release sometime in 2014, exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
