Mark caught up with Chris Lynch, Lead Combat Designer in Wildstar, to discuss how PVP and PVE experiences will work in the upcoming game.
In addition to sharing some great tips (like the fact that PVP will queue cross realm to find matches faster, and that PVP and PVE gear will be different), he went in-depth on what we can expect from combat in gameplay and in player versus player. Check it out!
PVE will Offer a Variety of Organized Combat Experiences
A Wildstar Raid
Wildstar will feature PVE dungeons and raids. 5 man dungeons begin at level 25, raids will be either 20 man or 40 man team events.
Ranked PVP will Begin Day One in Wildstar
A Wildstar Arena
Battlegrounds
Battlegrounds are an entry level PVP experience in Wildstar. Featuring 10-15 players, as early as level 3, friends or random. Wildstar will work to evenly match battleground teams.
Arenas
Arena teams are Eldergame PVP and players can preform teams prior to entering a match. Arenas are flexible and can get as granular as putting both players on a level playing field with a single skill to test their mettle, or simply letting them duke it our with their standard gear and skills.
Wildstar arenas will offer 2, 3, and 5 person experiences.
War Plots
While the devs are staying tight lipped about what war plots in Wildstar will mean, exactly, Chris did say it will be:
“…a way for you and 40 of your closest friends to to take our housing technology, and see how we put it to PVP use.”
