In the immediate aftermath of Bethesda’s E3 announcements last night, which included new expansions for Fallout 4, the studio announced that the 1.5.3 update for the most recent entry in the Fallout franchise is live across all platforms as of today. According to the developer’s notes, the only “new” feature included in the update is “Support for upcoming Add Ons,” which is presumably related to the upcoming “Contraptions” DLC slated to be released next week.
With regards to fixes, the 1.5.3 update includes, in addition to general fixes to the game’s performance, a host of improvements to the mods system, including a new “Daily Most Popular” search filter, the addition of the author’s name and the mod’s size to the mod’s details page, and perhaps most interestingly, a new song track that plays while browsing through mods. According to the developers, the update offers a generally improved mod browsing experience.
It should be mentioned that those hoping to participate in the beta for the “Contraptions” DLC must update to 1.5.3 after receiving their invite from Bethesda.
