One fan’s recreation of Bully‘s Bullsworth Academy has people talking about the game almost a decade after its initial release.
Wesley Arthur, a game design student at Sheffield Hallam University, recreated the iconic location of Bully using Unreal Engine 4, and the results are amazing.
“It’s an homage to one of my favourite games, Bully by Rockstar Games,” said Arthur in his original post on Kotaku‘s forums.
“I’d love to see a second game in the franchise, so I figured it would be a fitting project.”
For those interested in the development side of video game environments, Arthur’s blog post on the technical aspects of some the redesign’s elements is particularly good reading.
Bully 2?
Whether or not there will be a sequel to Bully is still in question.
In an interview with Gamasutra Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games, stated that they preferred to take time to analyze the outcomes of their games rather than rushing into a sequel:
“Also, contrary to a lot of people, we like to take a little bit of time at the end of a game before starting a sequel, so we can wait for the excitement or disappointment and everything else of the experience to shake down and really see what we should do in the next game.”
In the same interview, Houser also dropped a few hints at a sequel saying that, like Max Payne, Bully was a game they “adore” and “may come back to in the future.”
With Arthur in his final year of university, I think someone from Rockstar Games should give him a job working on the Bully sequel.
