Ubisoft has announced a contest that could allow you to play Far Cry 4 early…on top of Mount Everest. In the trailer for the contest, the announcer excitedly talks about how it is a gaming journey of a lifetime to go on a trip to the Himalayas with a group of experts to truly experience Far Cry 4.  The gamer would go all the way up the mountain with the group just so they could play Far Cry 4 on a console specially designed for Mount Everest.

In order to journey up Mount Everest, the traveler needs to be in top physical condition and the contest states that they will train whoever wins, but it goes without saying that you still need to be at the top of your game physically to do this. In order to convince Ubisoft, contestants need to make a creative YouTube video, showing them exactly why you should be the one to take the challenge. Climbing up Mount Everest isn’t a walk in the park and many people have died even attempting it. Ubisoft acknowledges this in the description of the trailer:

“There is inherent risk of death and significant injury to persons and property associated with the Mount Everest Experience and by participating, the winner understands and assumes this risk.”

You’d be hard pressed to find someone who actively wants to risk their life climbing up Mount Everest in order to play a video game, even one as anticipated as Far Cry 4.  It’s admirable Ubisoft wants its players to experience something new and if they find the perfect person, it’ll be great to see them conquer Everest. However, most gamers will probably be content playing Far Cry 4 from the comfort of their home, without the risk of death–myself included.
