Just take it easy, Halo fans. Your new adventure “WILL begin in 2014.”
When Microsoft produced a list of titles scheduled to hit the Xbox One this year, the next Halo entry wasn’t there. This produced a rash of assumptions, including the theory that the project had been delayed.
However, Microsoft senior PR manager Rob Semsey has asked everyone to stay calm. Here’s the Tweet that has acted as a stress-reliever for millions of concerned followers:
Rest assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014. #staycalm

He added that he didn’t want “folks to freak out about Halo‘s omission,” and the reason for that omission is simple: the anticipated title hasn’t been announced yet. As for the game’s name, many are assuming it’ll just be called “Halo 5,” but until we get the official unveiling, we won’t know for sure.
Microsoft will definitely want Halo for Xbox One this holiday season
The holiday season is always critical for all video game manufacturers and publishers. If the PlayStation 4 ends up with Uncharted 4, it’ll be all the more important for the Xbox One to land Halo 5 (or whatever it’s called). Top-tier exclusive software typically pushes hardware sales to new heights, and Halo is historically the primary driver of Xbox hardware sales. Gears of War and Forza have proven important, too, but Halo probably remains top dog for the brand.
