February.
This will be an exciting month for me! On the first I get to see my husband who’ll be graduating from navy boot camp, possibly for a week, which makes me wriggly and giggly like a bear doused in honey. Weird image. Sorry. On the 15th I’ll be going to Katsucon, a nerd extravaganza of anime proportions. This always marks three days of solid assing around with just about the best friends in existence!
But THEN!
Sometime after that, at a time we’ll call “Mid-February,” by the Square Enix calendar, Final Fantasy XIV beta will be released. The alpha ended a bit ago and I myself was not allowed into it. Or was I!? And I just can’t tell you cause of the NDA!? No, I didn’t get in and I was so disappointed ; ;. I’d been constantly playing SE’s terribly failed game since open beta and yet no alpha for me.
Don’t worry, I’m not bitter. Anymore.
However, Square Enix, in all their zipper-clad glory, created this standing they call “Legacy status.” Did I mention I’ve been playing XIV non-stop since release? Yeah, that’s me, proud Legacy status holder, ambling around like a damned cowboy (chocobo-boy..? No.), getting in the beta automatically without even having to sign up. Yes, along with a few other perks, Legacy members are ensured a slot in the closed beta.
Boom.
This simple treat for those of us who stuck with the game for so long seems to be pissing off the non-believers, though. How DARE Square Enix pamper the people who stuck with their failure of a game through thick and thin! … Seeing the issue here? Honestly, though, it wasn’t DIFFICULT to get Legacy status, children. (Have I said Legacy status enough?) To qualify for Legacy status (nope) one had to pay for their game account for three months. Not in a row, not whilst doing a hand-stand and whistling Yankie doodle dandy.
Just. Three. Months.
I did this… actually, I did this on TWO accounts. Which leads to…
–DOUBLE LEGACY–
-and I didn’t even qualify for alpha. So suck it up, whiners. Closed beta will come and go and if you don’t make it in (though chances are that you will, seriously), open beta will be right afterward, welcoming you with Yoshi-P’s tiny, bracelet-be-decked arms.
Whew, that one just wouldn’t stay bottled up. Sometimes, kids, rants just happen. The POINT, though, is that I’m excited for beta. I can’t wait to get in there and stretch that game out like one of those rubber bands that’s shaped like stuff, hoping it’ll pop back in the shape of a pineapple, or what have you. If you’re interested for signing up for the beta yourself, visit: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/index.html and click on their banner which I have shameless snagged for my image header.
And now, as I end many lettery things:
Many hearts! ~Michelle
