Final Fantasy VIII is now available on Steam. FFVIII was the first ever Final Fantasy for me. Now that I can play it on Steam with new features, I am super excited.
So a few big changes going into the Steam port: the first is Chocobo World–it’s a mode that wasn’t available for the Western audience before the port. While playing Chocobo World, you can get items and GF power ups that are used in FFVIII.
The game is basically like the old school Tamagotchi pets. To pick a specific direction, you use the arrow keys. When an event pops up, hit the right control button. The battles seem to be automated, and it doesn’t look like you find out what rewards you’ve earned until you transfer them over. It is neat to finally get the full experience of FFVIII, but I don’t think I’ll be spending much time in Chocobo World.
Probably one of the most touching love stories I’ve seen in a video game.
The other big change you notice is the character graphics have been cleaned up a bit. Instead of the extremely blurred graphics for the character. It’s easy to tell, since the characters stand out more in the scenery.
Will you be buying FFVIII on Steam? Let me know in the comments below.
