FFXIV: Crystal’s Call (E3 Trailer)

“When darkness falls will you stand alone or will you fight united as one? Rise brave heroes, heed the crystal’s call!”

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s E3 trailer was posted on the official ARR website today for those who missed it at E3.

What we get to see.

At the onset of the video fans get a glipse at the mindset of the mighty Garlean Empire. The Garleans claim they are saving Eorzea (the main playable land of FFXIV) from it’s “false gods.” Total conquest of Eorzea is the ultimate goal for the  Garlean Empire’s, and hold the realm firmly within their grasp.

The video also shows a sneak peek of a few Primals (what many Final Fantasy fans will recognize as previous summons), beginning with Ifrit. You catch a glimpse of Garuda, and what I think is a view of Titan as well. Odin, one of the two announced Elder Primals, also makes an appearance.

Familiar Faces.

Familiar faces make their return to the world of Eorzea. For the sake of those who have not played the original release, I won’t mention names or give away any spoilers. However, since Cid is so outspoken, he is back, though he looks pretty old now. Behemoths, Moogles, Cactaurs, and Goobbues–you can certainly tell this is a Final Fantasy game even without the title.

A bit spooky.

The trailer ends a bit on the spooky side, with a masked figure speaking of the crystal’s demise. Whatever he means can’t be good, so I hope you all join me in trying to foil his plans!
