In a recent patch, Square Enix and the Final Fantasy XIV development team patched Amdapor Keep and Wanderer’s Palace to get rid of suicide runs. For those unfamiliar with what a suicide run is, I’ll break it down for you. Basically the tank pulls all the monsters and runs to the boss room and dies. While doing this, the DPS and healer will run to the boss room performing no actions and not pulling aggro on any monsters. This will cause all the monsters to reset when the tank dies.
The development team did not approve of this method of clearing the dungeons, so they have adjusted the monster behavior to prevent the strategy from being further exploited. In the patch notes Square Enix had the following to say:
“As advancing through dungeons without defeating enemies is not an intended strategy, we plan to continue making further changes in the future to discourage this type of behavior.”
While this does make it take longer to farm these dungeons, it also has its benefits. Wanderer’s Keep for instance is used in the Twin Adder’s hunting log and people were running the dungeon for that and not getting the tasks complete. Now that you can’t suicide run anymore, Twin Adder members can complete their hunter’s Log.
