As part of Summer Games Fest 2023, publisher Square Enix announced that pre-registration for Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis is now open. Along with pre-registration comes a closed beta test period that will let players get an early sampling of this quirky reimagining of Final Fantasy 7.
By heading over to Square Enix’s website, both iOS and Android users can pre-register for Ever Crisis and get their accounts secured for when the game launches. Pre-registration will run from June 8, 2023, until June 28. Android users can also sign-up for a closed beta period that will commence on July 6, 2023, and run until July 13. The recommended device specifications date back to 2017, so it’s likely you’ll have a phone capable of playing the game if you’re upgraded within the last few years.
Announced way back in 2021 as a mobile-only title, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis has been described as an alternative remake of Final Fantasy 7. Oddly enough, gameplay footage has seen Ever Crisis stick more closely to the original game than Final Fantasy 7: Remake has. The latest trailer shown off at Summer Games Fest 2023 seems to indicate that the art direction is taking inspiration from Remake instead of the OG Final Fantasy 7.
While there has been no confirmation of a release date, the existence of a closed beta likely means that Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis will be launching in 2023. When the game does release, it will be available for iOS and Android devices.
