It’s been announced that Ike, from the Fire Emblem series, is returning as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
Ike is one of the main characters in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. In Fire Emblem: Awakening, a 3DS title, Ike served only as a downloadable character.
The Fire Emblem series is strategy role-playing game, which started in 1990, that’s exclusively for the Nintendo’s platforms, like the Family Computer, Super Famicon, Gamecube, Gameboy Advance, DS, Wii and 3DS. The series is a medieval turn-based fantasy game that centers on the player, moving their units through the land in order to complete various missions and defeating their enemies.
The units serves the player during battle that helps them gain experience points, which is what allows the player to level-up and gain new abilities. Using various tactics in order to seize a base, completing side missions, or defeating bosses, helps the player succeed in their victories.
There are many characters within the Fire Emblem series, but some characters like Ike, Roy, and Marth, stand out mostly to the fans. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, players were able to play both Roy and Marth, but Ike didn’t appear in the games until Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Marth is the only Fire Emblem character that has made his debut in three of the Super Smash Bros. games, including the upcoming title.
In the new Super Smash Bros., Ike’s appearance will be based off of the Radiant Dawn title. Theres been no announcement regarding if Roy might come back to the character roster again.
Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS is scheduled to release in the summer of 2014, with the Wii U version releasing in the winter.
