Pokemon has revealed the first five cards for its next set, Scarlet and Violet — Paldea Evolved. The set has more than 190 cards, with 15 new Pokemon ex coming out to play. The first cards shown include three Pokemon, including one of the new Pokemon ex cards, a Special Energy card, and a Supporter card. Here are all the details.
Confirmed Cards Paldea Evolved Cards
Tinkatuff, Baxcalibur, and Chi-Yu ex are the three Pokemon that have been revealed so far.
- Tinkatuff is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokemon with two attacks and 90 HP.
- Baxcalibur is a Stage 2 Water Pokemon with one attack and 160 HP. It has the Super Cold Ability, which allows you to move any basic Water Energy from your hand to a Pokemon as often as you like during your turn.
- Chi-Yu ex, one of the Four Treasures of Ruin in Paldea, is a Basic Fire Pokemon with two attacks and 190 HP. Its Jealously Singe attack is perfect for mill decks, as it discards the top 2 cards of an opponent’s deck.
The only confirmed special energy at this time is Reversal Energy. It has the special effect of providing three energy if you have more Prize Cards than your opponent, it’s attached to an Evolution Pokemon, and that Pokemon doesn’t have a Rule Box (such as a Pokemon ex). This is great for slower build-up decks with multiple evolutions and high energy costs.
Last but not least is Giacomo, a Supporter card. It allows you to discard one Special Energy from each of your opponent’s Pokemon. This could cause a huge turn in a match quite quickly.
While these are only the first five cards to be confirmed as part of the English set, it’s already shaping up to potentially disrupt the current competitive meta. Scarlet and Violet — Paldea Evolved releases in stores on June 9, 2023. For more information on the Pokemon TCG, stay tuned.
